The art of achieving goals with Ana Stevanović

All professional athletes work with coaches — without them, it is not possible to achieve top results. A coach is the one who can objectively assess the situation, without “rose-colored glasses,” and help the athlete adjust their approach and continue raising the level of performance and goals. In business, however, there is still a certain “barrier” when it comes to hiring a coach — having a “business” coach is still relatively uncommon. I recently had the privilege of attending a training session led by one of the top business coaches, Ana Stevanović. After just one day spent with her, it becomes clear that you can achieve more, do better, and go further with the support, wisdom, and strategies she shares. I would like to selflessly share the advice I learned from Ana regarding goal setting and goal achievement. 1. What is success?Success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile goal. The emphasis is on the process of achievement, not on the goal itself. 2. What is the purpose of a goal? The purpose of a goal is the growth and transformation of the person who achieves it, while the result itself is a consequence of that growth and transformation. The person who set the goal and the person who achieved it are no longer the same person. 3. What is a poorly set goal?A goal that you know from the start you can achieve will not lead to growth and transformation. If you want 10% more, it is usually enough to work 10% more. But if you want 10 times more, you must change your approach — because you cannot work 10 times more. 4. What is crucial for achieving a goal?Willpower. Ability will be built along the way. Willpower is the result of strong beliefs, self-discipline, and well-structured habits. 5. What are the characteristics of a well-set goal?A goal must be disruptive, crystal clear, emotionally meaningful to us, and to some extent frightening. If a goal does not scare us, it is not big enough. 6. How many goals should one have?Ideally, just one. Too many goals often lead to a dispersion of effort, time, and money, and ultimately to a lack of execution. 7. How do we achieve a worthwhile goal?By doing things we have never done before or by doing things in a way we have never done before. 8. Where should our focus be when pursuing a goal? Our focus should always be on things we can control. Every action triggers a reaction — there is no point in spending time on reactions. If we are not satisfied with the result, we must change the actions we are taking. Siniša Drobnjak
