Edvard Varda, majority owner and President of the Management Board of UNCONDITIONAL, began his entrepreneurial journey in 1994 by expanding the family pet-specialty business founded in Split in 1974. Taking over the company independently in the late 1990s, he managed virtually every aspect of the business himself during its new beginning, while systematically building a team of experts in their respective fields. Through many successes, as well as mistakes that provided valuable lessons along the way, UNCONDITIONAL has grown into a distributor of pet food, equipment, and veterinary medicines, employing 550 people across Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia. The company also operates 70 specialized retail stores in Croatia and Slovenia. A key ingredient of its healthy growth and development has been its focus on both internal and external customers, fostering a curious and self-aware organizational culture.
UNCONDITIONAL is primarily financed through its own resources, while the strategic partnership with the German Fressnapf Group, established in 2022, has further accelerated the company’s growth.
Edvard Varda emphasizes the importance of continuous learning, integrity, and a long-term approach in his decision-making, reinforcing his position as a leader in the pet care industry and in the representation and distribution of veterinary medicines.
He is currently completing his doctoral studies at the IEDC-Bled School of Management, further deepening his expertise and research in the fields of leadership and strategic management.
